Townsville fishing charter operators and local anglers will have to plan their trips carefully. At least 2 boat ramps are set to be closed for maintenance works.
The Cromarty Creek boat ramp (Haughton River tributary) was to close to all members of the public from today and remain that way until May 24, however these works have been postponed.
The Cromarty Creek boat ramp remains open for public use at this time.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads say these dates will be revised and new dates released within the next fortnight.
Meanwhile, neighbouring system and also popular with Townsville fishing enthusiasts and charter operators , Barramundi (Morrissey’s) Creek will be closed for a week or more from today, May 13. It is also undergoing maintenance repairs.
